Course, rules and logistics

The race has entry qualifications: completion of any 100-mile trail run qualifies, and three specified 50-mile races qualify under time conditions. Runners must stay on the marked course, may receive aid only at designated aid stations, and must check in at each aid station. Pacers are allowed only after the turnaround at Camp Morganton or at crew-accessible aid stations; only one pacer may accompany a runner at a time and pacers must wear a pacer bib and complete a waiver. Crews are limited to one vehicle per aid station and must not block traffic or leave cars parked at aid stations. The Flat Creek Loop requires bib punches for loop verification; failure to punch may lead to return to the loop or disqualification. Limited primitive campsites and tent camping are available at Camp Morganton; the nearest town with lodging is Blue Ridge, GA. Weather in May can include rain and typical temperatures from about 50°F to 75°F. Refunds follow a sliding scale based on days before the event.
