Race options and entry categories
The event offers both timed and untimed starts for the 8-mile and 5K distances. The timed start includes an exclusive participant corral; only timed participants may enter that corral before the timed start. For safety, no dogs or strollers are allowed in the timed corral; untimed participants may still be timed but are asked to line up outside the timed corral. Youth categories cover ages 7-12; Tots/Toddlers/Strollers covers newborns through age 6. A Diaper Dash for crawlers is offered; diaper dash participants receive a onesie and a bib. Extras, team scoring, and contests
"The Roost" is a paid gathering area on Dallas City Hall Plaza with covered and uncovered seating, pre-race breakfast items (breakfast tacos, omelets, mini pancakes, fresh fruit), beverages (hot chocolate, coffee, juice), post-race snacks, and semi-private restrooms. A Premium pass adds two premium beverages (beer, wine, or mimosas); children 6 and under enter free with an adult, and ages 7-12 may join for $15 with an adult ticket.
The Team Challenge is available in the timed 5K or timed 8-mile. Teams require a minimum of four participants; the top four individual times are summed for team scoring and winners are determined after the event. The Costume Contest is open to registered participants who opt in; prizes include a one-year family YMCA membership for first place, six months for second, and three months for third.
