Dana Peak Trail Run
The event takes place at Dana Peak Park on the north shore of Stillhouse Hollow Lake in Harker Heights, Texas. The park is a 560 acre site operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers and is listed at 3800 Comanche Gap Road, Harker Heights, TX 76548. Trails rise and fall along rocky shoreline terrain; most routes run through trees with some exposed sections. Each race distance follows a single loop with limited repeated trail sections. All runners must carry a hydration device. 50K and 100K runners should be prepared to carry enough water for the longest aid station gap of about 7 miles.
Distances, aid and logistics
- 100K - 2 x 50K loop, ≈6708 ft ascent/descent
- 50K - 1 loop, ≈3354 ft ascent/descent
- 20K - 1 loop, ≈1530 ft ascent/descent
- 10K - 1 loop (≈7 miles)
The 100K and 50K courses include six aid stations per loop, generally 3-5 miles apart, with one longer segment near 7 miles. The remote Lost-n-Found aid station is not vehicle accessible and will have limited supplies; other aid stations offer water, Gatorade, SaltStick, food items and first aid. This is a cupless race; a reusable collapsible cup will be available for purchase. One drop bag location is provided at the Stillhouse Hollow aid station for 50K and 100K runners. Only 100K runners may use pacers, and only on the second loop. Primitive tent and car camping is allowed; RV camping is not allowed this year. Prize awards and finisher items are specified by distance, including a finisher buckle for the 100K and medals for 50K/20K/10K. Registration credit and transfer policies apply for cancellations.
