Day of the Dead (Legs)
The Day of the Dead (Legs) is an endurance running event held in Albuquerque, New Mexico, featuring a challenging mountain course on the Whitewash climb. Participants tackle a technical 0.5-mile ascent with 500 feet of elevation gain repeatedly over a 10-hour period on Saturday, followed by an optional 5-hour "victory lap" on Sunday for the Doubler challenge. The course is rugged and steep, with multiple trail options flagged but not strictly marked.
Runners return to basecamp after each lap for resupply. The event emphasizes grit and self-challenge, offering finisher awards and special recognition for top climbers. Crew and dogs are welcome at basecamp, but dogs are not allowed on the trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
