Event overview

Day of the Dead (Legs) takes place November 1-2, 2025 in Albuquerque, NM at the Menaul Trailhead area (10817 Menaul Blvd NE). The event includes a 10-hour session, a 5-hour session, and a "Doubler" option that combines both sessions across two days. Finisher awards and handcrafted finisher mugs made by a local artist are given to participants who complete the full 10-hour session. There is an extra award for the top climber in each self-identifying gender category.

Course, rules and logistics

The main climb is the Whitewash climb, described as a technical ascent with approximately 500 ft of gain in about 0.5 miles. Each out-and-back lap is roughly 1 mile and equals one counted ascent of 500 ft. Laps are tallied by volunteers at the start/finish; GPS or Strava data are not used for official gain. The trail will be flagged but there is no single mandatory line - runners must stay on pre-existing trails.

Participants must sign in on arrival and sign out when finished. If a runner leaves the course they must notify a race director. Crew and dogs are allowed only at basecamp; dogs are not allowed on the trail. There are no established bathrooms at the trailhead. The event provides an aid station with snacks and water, plus donuts in the morning and pizza for lunch. Parking is on nearby residential streets or at the Menaul Trailhead area; the event does not start from a large parking lot. Refund and bib-transfer rules apply by published dates. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
