Event overview
The Duke City Marathon weekend is scheduled for October 2025 with race day on Sunday, October 19, 2025. The event includes multiple race options:
- Marathon (RRCA West Regional Championship)
- Marathon Relay
- Half Marathon (2025 RRCA New Mexico State Championship)
- 10K Run
- 10K Walk
- 5K Run
- 5K Walk
Age groups are listed from 0-14 up to 90+. Competition categories include Male, Female, Wheel Chair, and several Relay divisions (Men's, Women's, Co-ed, Military, Law Enforcement, Pueblo). Registration benefits list a moisture-wicking long sleeve shirt, a 2025 commemorative race coin, finishers medals for Marathon, Half Marathon, 10K Run, and 10K Walk, race bib, timing, race packet, post race festival, and post race refreshments. Refunds are not available and registrations are not transferable; event transfers have a fee.
Course and logistics
The start and finish are at Civic Plaza in downtown Albuquerque. The course follows Central Avenue west, turns onto Laguna, Kit Carson (the 5K turnaround), Alcalde, and Tingley Drive to access the Paseo del Norte Trail just east of the train tunnel. At that junction the 10K races turn east while the Half Marathon, Relay, and Marathon turn west. Around mile 10 Marathon and Relay participants head toward the Sandia Mountains for a 3.1 mile out-and-back then return via the Paseo del Bosque Trail to finish at Civic Plaza. The official finish line location is 3rd Street, between Tijeras and Marquette. City streets on the course are closed to vehicular traffic on race day.
Race packet pick up for registrations completed by September 19 is available at Big 5 Sporting Goods, 2720 San Mateo Blvd, during packet pick up days. Race packets are also available at the Health & Fitness Expo on Saturday, October 18 at the Albuquerque Convention Center, Hall 3; the Expo is free and open to the public.
