About the race
Death Valley Marathon, Half Marathon & 10K is the 28th annual running event in Death Valley National Park, Inyo County, California. The course starts and finishes at the Day Use Area #1 adjacent to Furnace Creek Ranch, following the paved bike path along Highway 190 through Harmony Borax Works and Mustard Canyon. The marathon and half are double out-and-back routes; the 10K turns at the Mile 3 aid station.
The course is largely flat with less than 500 feet of total climbing and runs entirely below sea level, offering dramatic desert vistas of the Panamints, Funerals, Cottonwoods, Blacks and Grapevines. Limited to 300 participants; proceeds benefit park programs. Runners receive T-shirts and finisher medals; headphones are not allowed. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
