Course, relay and event logistics
The half marathon course starts in downtown Des Moines with a lap among high-rise buildings, crosses bridges at Gray's Lake, includes a loop around the lake, passes through the Arie den Boer Arboretum, and finishes in a large urban park. Relay teams consist of three members who each run about 4-5 miles and use designated relay exchange zones; teams are provided special parking near Jasper Winery and receive full half marathon swag for each member.
