Event overview

The Dog Days of Summer event takes place on September 5, 2026 at the WARF, Warrenton Aquatic & Recreation Facility in Warrenton, VA. The event offers two race distances:

• 5k
• 10k

Points from these races count toward the 5k, 10k, Back of the Pack Series, and the Summer Series. A virtual race option is available for participants who cannot attend in person. Race entries include chip timing, a finisher’s medal, and a technical (drifit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for runners who register before August 26.

Course, services, and race procedures

The course uses paved paths with several hills. The 5k is an out-and-back route. Water stations are placed along both courses: seven stations on the 10k at listed mile markers and three stations on the 5k at listed mile markers; some stations will offer Gatorade. Restrooms are available inside the WARF. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered. Live race results will be posted online and a QR code at the event will allow immediate result access. Age-group awards are given, including top three overall and category awards by age ranges.
