Course, services and rules

All events run the same 3.42-mile loop. Each loop has about 400 feet of elevation change and includes two stream crossings. Runners pass the start/finish on each lap; only complete laps count toward official distances. The race is cupless, but runners can leave a cup at the start/finish. There is one main aid station at the start/finish with hot food on a rotating basis, typical ultra foods, water, Tailwind, and soda. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are available.

Packet pickup begins the evening before the race at a park shelter and continues at the start area. Primitive camping is available at the start line; the park also has cabins and a renovated campground. Nearest commercial lodging is in Farmville, about 30 minutes away. Pacers are permitted for solos under specified conditions; pacers are not allowed for relay teams. Awards are given for top finishers by gender in each distance and finishers of 50k, 50 miles, 100k, and 100 miles; 100-mile finishers receive a belt buckle.
