Event overview
The 16th Annual Durham Academy Turkey Trot takes place on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Durham Academy in Durham, North Carolina (3601 Ridge Rd). The in-person event is held on the school campuses and includes community activities such as food trucks, bounce houses, a photo booth, games, and field activities.
Distances and formats:
- 5K - USA Track & Field-certified course with chip timing
- Turkey Trot Fun Run (grades PK to 4th grade) - grade-level heats on the Upper School track where children race to catch a costumed "turkey"
Prizes will be awarded to top runners in divisions. Four-legged animals are not allowed on site.
Registration and logistics
Registration opens on October 8, 2025. The 5K entry fee is $35; the Fun Run is free. Registration closes on November 12, 2025, and there is no same-day registration. Registrants who sign up before October 29, 2025, will receive a Turkey Trot t-shirt included with the 5K fee; Fun Run participants may purchase a t-shirt if registered before that date.
