Course and event details

The event uses a 4.6 mile loop that mixes single track and wide open dirt road through manzanita and red shank vegetation, with rock formations and views of Cahuilla Mountain. Runners pass a parked car and an aid station on each loop. The 9 Miler is two loops, the 13 Miler (also listed as 1/2 Marathon) is three loops, the 30 K is four loops, and the 50 K is seven loops. The event is scheduled to occur under a full moon after sunset. The race takes place on land of the Cahuilla Band of Indians (Mountain Cahuilla); the reservation near Anza was established in 1875 and is about 20,000 acres.
