About the race
The Free State Trail Run, held in Meriden, Kansas, offers challenging distances including a 40-mile, marathon, half marathon, and quarter marathon (6.75 miles). The race takes place entirely on single-track, rocky, and technical hardwood forest trails with moderate elevation changes (752 feet ascent/descent per loop). The course features multiple loops around the Delaware TrailHead of Perry MTB Trails near Lake Perry, providing occasional scenic views.
Aid stations are located at the start/finish and a remote water-only station at mile 3. Participants receive swag such as T-shirts and mugs, with distance-specific awards and finisher caps for 40-mile runners. Pacers and canine companions are allowed under specific rules.
