Freedom 5K Run for the Wreath - event overview
The event is scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, in Gardnerville, NV, with the start and finish at Heritage Park on the Ezell Street side (1447 Courthouse Alley). It is the second run in the "We Run This Town" fun run/walk series and includes an in-person and a virtual option. Main Street Gardnerville has partnered with Wreaths Across America to honor 225 military veterans laid to rest at Garden Cemetery; five dollars from each registration will go toward purchasing a wreath. The event will take place rain or shine. A Carson Valley Pops Orchestra concert is scheduled at Heritage Park after the 5K.

Pre-registration fees listed are: runners 10 and under free; runners 11 and up $25 (day-of $35); military and veterans $20 (day-of $25); virtual $20. Registration on race day is available at higher fees and registration begins at 7:00am. Walkers are asked to stay in the middle of the pack and those with strollers or leashed dogs should position at the back. Dogs must be on leash, non-aggressive, current on vaccinations, and child/dog friendly; they will be positioned at the back of the starting pack. Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers and all participants will receive running medals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
