About the race
Glacier Hills Ultra 50K is a trail ultramarathon at Newton Hills State Park near Canton, South Dakota. The event offers 50K, 30K, and 20K distances, each run as loops through the Newton Hills trail system, roughly 850 feet of elevation per 10K. The four miles of shared horse-trail sections add variety, with all races starting and finishing near the picnic shelter and aided loops along the way.
The race fosters a grassroots, volunteer-driven atmosphere—described as a fun break from everyday life rather than a full-time operation. Special features include the Betty the Yeti challenge and swag: an insulated cooler backpack, guaranteed swag for registrations by October 1.
