The 41st annual Golden Gate Headlands race takes place on Saturday, April 4, 2026, at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center and Fort Barry area in Mill Valley, California. The event offers multiple distances:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10K
The event is limited to 400 participants. The course starts and finishes at the Historic Gunnery Range in Rodeo Valley. Runners will see views of the Golden Gate Bridge, San Francisco Bay, and the Pacific Ocean from summits along the route.
Course and logistics
The course combines single track hiking trails and fire roads. Course markings use orange ribbon. Marathoners run the half marathon loop twice and must check in at the finish before beginning the second loop. Course cut-off time for the marathon is 6 hours; specific pace cut-offs are listed for each distance. Aid stations: none on the 10K, one at mile 6 for the half marathon, and aid at miles 6, 13, and 19 for the marathon. Participants are advised to carry water. Headphones and other audio devices are not allowed on the course. Athlete check-in is at the start/finish area across from the Marin Headlands Visitors Center; bibs, safety pins, and course maps are available there. Parking is on Smith Road toward Rodeo Beach.
