Course, logistics and services
Courses are marked with ribbon about every 200 yards and color coded by distance. Polka-dot flagging marks turns; blue ribbons mark wrong ways. GPX files are available for each distance. Surface and elevation details: the 8K has about 1,010 ft gain with mostly single-track and dirt road; the Half Marathon has about 2,550 ft gain; the 30K about 4,030 ft; the Marathon about 5,100 ft; the 50K about 6,580 ft. Surface mix varies by distance between single-track, dirt road, and some asphalt.
Aid stations are fully stocked every 4 to 6 miles with fresh fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch electrolyte drink. Runners are strongly advised to carry at least 20 oz of water between aid stations. The event is cupless; participants should bring a personal fluid container. A small number of Hydrapak SpeedCups will be available for purchase at check-in. Bib and shirt pick-up begins at 7:00 a.m. at Rodeo Beach; participants are asked to arrive about 45 minutes before their event. Parking is prohibited in the Rodeo Beach lot; designated parking areas include the Marine Mammal Center lot, along Mitchell Rd near the lagoon footbridge, and parking along Bunker Rd. Drop bags are allowed for 30K, Marathon, and 50K. Awards: pre-registered runners receive shirts, all finishers get a custom medal, 50K finishers also receive a custom coaster; overall top three winners receive race credits ($50, $35, $20).
