Event overview
The Gopher to Badger Race takes place on August 8, 2026. The event offers three distances:
- Half marathon
- 10K
- 5K
The race starts in the Stillwater, Minnesota area and finishes in Hudson, Wisconsin. The course crosses the I-94 bridge over the St. Croix River. All three courses are USA Track & Field (USATF) certified and sanctioned.
Course, services and registration
Course certification numbers are provided for each distance (Half: MN-14035RR; 10K: MN-19046RR; 5K: MN-19045RR). Timing is provided by Mtec Results and participant tracking is available through the Run Stillwater app. Race-day services include bag drop at each start location, staffed water stations with water and Gatorade, restroom facilities at each start and at about two-mile intervals, pacers for half marathon runners, finish-line recovery food and beverages, a selfie clock at the finish, video finish and free downloadable photos. Shower facilities at River Valley Athletic Club are available to registered runners. Top three finishers in each five-year age group receive keepsake awards mailed after the event.
Online, will-call and in-person registration options are described; online registration is available through the week before the race. On race day, packet pickup and shuttle service to the starts operate from Grandview Park. Information on fees and course maps is available from the race organizer.
Kids Fun Run
A kids fun run at the same event is approximately 0.3 miles (about 1,600 feet). Entry is limited to children 10 and under, the entry fee is listed as $21, and each child receives a bib (not timed), a finisher ribbon and a medal.
