Course and logistics
Runners start at Lake Anza and follow marked trails through Tilden Regional Park. Distances were measured with a Rolatape surveyor's measuring wheel. The course is marked with ribbon about every 200 yards and color coded by loop. Polka-dot flagging indicates turns; blue ribbons mark the wrong way. Headphones are allowed on dirt road sections only and are not allowed on single-track, when crossing paved roads, at aid stations, or at the finish. Fully stocked aid stations are placed every 3 to 4 miles with fresh fruit, salty snacks, candy, water, and Skratch sports drink; runners are recommended to carry at least 20 oz of water between stations. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own fluid container. Parking is free. Drop bags are allowed for the 30K, Marathon, and 50K at the start/finish.
