Event overview
The Lake Chabot Trail Run takes place on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Lake Chabot Regional Park - Marina in Castro Valley, CA (17600 Lake Chabot Road, 94546). The race offers multiple distances:
- 8K
- Half Marathon
- 30K
- Marathon
- 50K
- Kid's Run (6yo & younger, 50 yd dash) - Free
T-shirts are given to pre-registered runners and finishers receive a custom medal. Fifty-kilometer finishers also receive a custom coaster. Overall top three male and female finishers at each distance receive awards and race credits ($50, $35, $20). Top three in each age group and gender receive medals.
Course and logistics
All courses start and finish at the Marina and circle Lake Chabot reservoir and surrounding hills. The routes are color coded and marked with ribbon about every 200 yards; polka-dot flagging marks turns at intersections. GPX files are available for each distance. Elevation gains and surface breakdowns:
- 8K: Elevation gain 380 ft; single track 16%, dirt road 12%, asphalt 72%
- Half Marathon: 1,450 ft; single track 14%, dirt road 60%, asphalt 26%
- 30K: 1,830 ft; single track 14%, dirt road 48%, asphalt 38%
- Marathon: 2,900 ft; single track 14%, dirt road 60%, asphalt 26%
- 50K: 3,280 ft; single track 14%, dirt road 53%, asphalt 33%
Aid stations are stocked every 4-5 miles with fruit, snacks, water, and Skratch drink; runners are advised to carry at least 20 oz of water between aid stations. The event is cupless; participants should bring their own fluid container. Parking costs $5 per vehicle. Drop bags are allowed for 30K, marathon, and 50K at the start/finish.
