Format and logistics
Organizers describe the event as an unsanctioned, do-it-yourself "fat ass" run/walk. Only the 5K, 10K and Pink Ribbon Trail will be marked with chalk; the 10M, 13.1M, 26.2M and 50K courses will have no trail markings. There are no aid stations, no official times, and no awards. Maps and turn-by-turn directions are provided and include locations of drinking fountains and restrooms along the courses.
Online registration and online donations are accepted; a registration fee of $25 is noted. The Pinkathon is a fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF); voluntary donations are encouraged and described as tax-deductible. Touchless race check-in via the RunSignup app is offered. COVID guidance notes that face coverings are optional in the start/finish area and inside the Ferry Building and that start times will be staggered. Public transit access includes Embarcadero BART and Caltrain connections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
