Hell Creek Half & 50K
The Hell Creek Half & 50k is a trail running event held near Sylvan Grove, Kansas, at the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail in Wilson State Park. It features two distances: a half marathon (~13 miles) and a 50k (~32 miles). The course is a rugged yet runnable single-track trail with scenic views of Wilson Lake and the state park, known as the only EPIC-rated mountain bike trail between the Rockies and the Ozarks.
The 50k includes a 19-mile loop plus the half marathon loop, with about 3,000 feet of elevation change, while the half marathon has around 1,300 feet. Aid stations are located at the start/finish and "Hell Hill," and the course is well-marked for easy navigation. The event offers unique swag, including a wooden medal for half marathoners and a buckle for 50k finishers, and welcomes dogs with special "fur-baby" awards.
It serves as a training opportunity for the Hell Creek 100 race series in September. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
