The Eternal Damnation Backyard
The Eternal Damnation Backyard is a challenging backyard ultra held at Wilson State Park near Dorrance, Kansas, featuring the Switchgrass Mountain Bike Trail. The course is a 4.88-mile loop, mostly single-track trail alongside scenic Wilson Lake, known as the clearest lake in Kansas. Runners complete laps every hour until only one remains, with strict backyard ultra rules enforced.
The event offers a supportive atmosphere with space for crews, aid stations providing water and endurance fuel, and encourages self-sufficiency. Participants receive unique swag, including shirts and finishers' plaques, with special awards for top finishers. It also serves as the first race in the Ultraverse Kansas Slam series.
