Hellbender 100
The Hellbender 100 is a challenging 100-mile ultramarathon held in Old Fort, North Carolina, featuring a grueling course through the Black Mountains and the summit of Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Mississippi. With over 48,000 feet of elevation change, runners experience some of the most scenic and demanding trails in Western North Carolina.
The race is a qualifier for both the Hardrock 100 and Western States 100. Organized by the nonprofit Run828 Foundation, the event emphasizes community, environmental stewardship, and inclusivity, welcoming runners of all gender identities. Participants must carry mandatory safety gear due to unpredictable mountain weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
Always double-check with the organizer's website – things can change, and we might have sprinted past a few details!
