Event details
The First Solar HEROES 5k takes place on Saturday, November 15, 2025 in Huntsville, AL (35805) at 1 Tranquility Base, hosted in partnership with the US Space & Rocket Center. The course runs around the Pathfinder Shuttle and the Saturn V Rocket and is a USATF certified road course (Course ID AL19035JE). Distances included:
- 5k Run
- 5k Ruck
Participation, registration and logistics
Both events have a registration fee of $30. Registration closes on November 14, 2025 at 8:00 pm; the deadline to guarantee a runner packet is October 27, 2025. After October 27, registrants will receive only a runner bib for chip timing. The 5k ruck has set weight divisions: male ruck = 30 lbs, female ruck = 20 lbs. Participants must bring their own ruck and meet the dry weight requirement; rucks will be weighed before the event. All proceeds will be donated to Still Serving Veterans, a local non-profit military support organization. Parking is in the lot in front of The Davidson Center for Space Exploration.
