About the race
James River Trail Runs takes place at James River State Park in Gladstone, Virginia. In its fourth year, the event offers 10-mile, 50K, 50-mile relay, and 50-mile solo distances, plus a 10-mile night race. The 10-mile loop climbs about 1,025 feet per loop: the first five miles on single- and double-track trails, mile six along the James River on flat terrain, and the final half-mile back to the start.
The race uses fixed-time scoring: finish one loop for a time, with additional loops yielding longer distances. It’s part of the Virginia State Parks Adventure Series, with hiking options, gluten-free choices, and discounts for service members. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
