Course, aid stations and race policies
The event runs on the Prairie Spirit Trail, primarily on crushed limestone with asphalt through towns. Courses use turnarounds at specified towns (examples: 100 Mile turnaround in Iola; 50 Mile in Garnett; 50K in Richmond; 100K in Welda; Marathon in Richmond; Half Marathon in Princeton) and finish at Celebration Hall. Manned and unmanned aid stations are placed approximately every 5 miles, with manned stations offering water, electrolyte drink, and snacks, plus drop bag access. The course is described as flat and relatively easy. Pacers are allowed for roughly the last half of events. Runners may not drop down to a shorter distance after starting; nonfinishers are listed as DNF and deviations from the marked course can result in penalties or disqualification.
