The Kirby Derby takes place at Forest Reserve Park in Monticello, IL 61856 on May 2, 2026. The event offers the following distances:
- 10K Run
- 5K Run/Walk
All event proceeds support development of the Wellness Trail provided by the Kirby Foundation. Registration opens October 1, 2025. Entry fees are listed as $35 and $25. Registration remains open until race morning, but there is no cash registration at the park; same-day registration is completed on a mobile device. The deadline to switch events is noon the day before the race.
Logistics and race services
T-shirt requests must meet the 4/14 deadline; participants who registered by 11:59pm on 4/14 will receive a race shirt. Bib and shirt pickup will take place at the park pavilion on the Friday before the race and on race morning. The course is not closed to traffic; volunteers will be present at intersections to guide participants and help control traffic. Two water stations will be available: one by Nick's Park and one by Monticello Laundry. 10K participants will pass the second water stop twice. The 5K awards ceremony will begin approximately 9am, with 10K awards to follow. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
