Event details

La Jornada de Las Quebradas is scheduled for February 14, 2026, in the Socorro area of New Mexico. The event is listed as a 53K and the race specifications state a length of 32 miles with 3300' of elevation gain. The registration fee is $75 and the fee includes a meal from the local food truck Cubish. A portion of the event profits will be donated to the Socorro High School cross country team and to local trail maintenance. Awards include a $50 REI gift card for the first-place male and female finishers.

Course and logistics

The course runs on desert single and double track through arroyos, limestone and sandstone outcrops, with some short rocky and technical sections and a brief very sandy climb. Course markings will use ribbons and are described as minimal but intended to be adequate; there may be a water-only aid station at one location. Aid stations are minimal and expected to offer water and snacks; participants should plan for personal fuel needs. Cutoffs will be strictly enforced at the aid station locations around miles 7.5, 17.0, and 24.5. The start area is a small pullout off the Quebradas backcountry byway; the access road is generally drivable by most sedans though some washboard sections exist. Carpooling from Escondida bridge park is suggested and at least one portable toilet will be available near the start. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
