Lake Norman State Park 30K & 50K Trail Race
The event takes place at Lake Norman State Park in Troutman, NC and is the seventh annual running of this trail race. Two distances are offered:
- 30K
- 50K
Both events have a 9-hour cut-off time. Participants who register by November 13 will receive a long-sleeved shirt. Space is limited.
Course, aid stations, awards and policies
The 30K starts behind the Visitors Center and follows Laurel Loop, Wildlife Loop, Fallstown Loop, and Fox Loop, then returns on Laurel Loop to the finish. The 30K has about 1,500 feet of elevation gain. The 50K follows the 30K route initially, then adds Hawk, Monbo, Norwood Creek, and Hicks Creek loops before finishing; the 50K has about 1,900 feet of elevation gain. All loops are run clockwise and opposite the direction of bike traffic.
Aid stations are stocked with water, Mountain Dew, Coke, Ginger Ale, Tailwind, sandwiches, cookies, fruit, gels, chips, and other snacks. Aid Station #1 is at the entrance/exit of Wildlife Loop (passed by all distances at about Mile 2.5 and Mile 10.5). Aid Station #2 is at Monbo Loop (50K only, about Mile 18.4 and Mile 24.5). Finishers receive a finisher metal. Awards include 1st Overall Male and Female and 1st Male and Female Masters for both events. Photos will be shared after the race. The event runs rain or shine; there are no refunds, bib transfers, or deferrals. Volunteers receive a shirt, and those who volunteer 4 hours or more earn a free entry for next year.
