Last Fool Standing : March 28-29, 2026
Last Fool Standing is a trail running event at Port Gamble Heritage Trails in Port Gamble, WA, held March 28-29, 2026. The event uses a looped course of about 5K+ per lap, run on singletrack through Pacific Northwest forest with rolling hills and some wider sections. The start/finish and basecamp area is the airfield parking at Port Gamble Trails. Onsite primitive camping will be available; nearby lodging is listed in Kingston, Poulsbo, and Port Gamble.
Event formats and awards
Multiple formats are offered:
- Last Fool Standing: run a 5K+ trail loop every hour.
- Cash prize equal to 10% of total registrations for the Last Fool event (example: if 10 people register, prize money = $222; it increases by $22 with each additional runner).
- 48-Hour Endurance: run the 5K+ loop as many times as desired during a 48-hour period; award for overall mileage leader.
- 24-Hour Endurance: 24-hour time limit with heat options on different days; award for the mileage leader in each heat.
- 12-Hour AM Session and 12-Hour PM Session: 12-hour sessions for daytime and nighttime running respectively; each session awards an overall mileage leader. The PM session includes full course support and volunteers on-site.
Support and volunteers
A fully stocked aid station is located at the start/finish, offering hydration, snacks, and hot food during night hours.
