Event overview
Light the Darkness 5K is scheduled for Saturday, January 24, 2026 in Cocoa Beach, FL at Lori Wilson Park (1500 N. Atlantic Ave., South Entrance). The event is the third annual edition and is held during Human Trafficking Awareness Month. Its stated mission is to raise awareness, provide education and funds for prevention, identification, rehabilitation and support of survivors of sexual exploitation.
Race details
The event is an evening out-and-back beach race that starts on the beach in front of Lori Wilson Park. Event options listed include an in-person 5K, a virtual race, and a vendor option. Headlamps, neon and lighted apparel or accessories are noted as necessary. A race village with vendors and a food truck will be present on site.
Awards are given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female finishers, plus master male and female awards; no age-group awards are offered. Amenities include finisher medals for all participants, one free raffle ticket, one free drink ticket, additional post-race refreshments, and a unisex short-sleeve shirt (early registrants have an option to order a tank top for a limited time). Vendor spaces are 10x10 and vendors must provide their own lighting, tent and generator if needed. Parking is available at Lori Wilson Park lots on a first-come basis.
Registration fees are tiered: $30 (early), $35 (mid), $40 (late). The virtual race and vendor entries have separate pricing. Pre-race packet pickup is to be determined. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
