Event overview
The North Carolina State Highway Patrol presents the Lights & Sirens Race for Hope for Special Olympics North Carolina on Saturday, December 13, 2025. The event raises funds for Special Olympics North Carolina and supports nearly 53,000 registered SONC athletes and Unified partners. The program features two events:
- 5K
- 1.5-mile fun run/walk (non-chipped, around the race track)
All participants will receive an event t-shirt. The first 250 registered 5K participants will receive a voucher for the Charlotte Motor Speedway Christmas Light Show. Registration fee information listed for the events includes a $50 price for the 5K and $40 for the fun run; the 5K price increases after November 30, 2025, and fun run registration closes on December 13, 2025.
Location and logistics
The race takes place at Charlotte Motor Speedway, 5555 Concord Parkway South, Charlotte, NC 28207. Participants will run on the speedway track. Packet pick up begins on race day.
