Event overview
The McKenzie River Trail Run is an ultramarathon held in Blue River, Oregon. The main distance is 31 miles (50K) along the McKenzie River corridor. The event is operated under a special use permit from the Willamette National Forest and directs net proceeds to support McKenzie Bridge area non-profits. Registration is first come, first served with a wait-list; the entry fee for 2026 is $115 and includes a shuttle from the community track to the start and from the finish back to the track. Cancellations before April 15 receive a 50% refund and registration is not transferable.
Course, aid, and awards
The course begins at Carmen Reservoir off Hwy 126 near Koosah Falls and Icecap Campground. After a short gravel section the route follows the Waterfalls Trail, passes Clear Lake and the Santiam Wagon Road, goes through Clear Lake Resort, crosses Hwy 126, then follows the McKenzie River Trail about 21 miles downriver to the finish across from the McKenzie River Ranger Station. Aid stations are placed every 4-6 miles and offer water, electrolyte drink, gels, and food. The race is "cupless" - participants should bring a reusable cup; a limited number of cups will be sold at packet and shuttle pick up. Drop bags can be delivered to Aid 3 at mile 16.7. Organizers plan cutoffs beginning at aid station #2 at roughly mile 11.5 and expect runners to complete the course within eight hours. Awards are given to overall top three and top age-group finishers by male, female, and non-binary categories. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
