2026 Stinson Beach/Muir Woods Marathon, Half Marathon & 7 Mile
The event takes place on May 9, 2026, at Stinson Beach Parking Lot in Stinson Beach, California. It is the 36th annual edition and the field is limited to 300 participants. Distances offered:

Course and logistics
The race is a trail run that begins at sea level in Stinson Beach and climbs into the wooded trails of Muir Woods. Runners follow the Dipsea trail to Steep Ravine, including a wooden ladder, natural rock and wooden staircases, and sections that require scrambling under tree trunks. The route passes brooks, waterfalls, redwoods, and oaks, reaches a summit with panoramic views, then descends back to Stinson Beach. The course is marked with orange ribbon. The 7 Mile course turns at the first aid station; half marathoners and marathoners complete a loop; marathoners complete the loop twice plus an additional out-and-back with a marked turnaround.
Aid stations are located at miles 3.8, 7.5, 10.5, 14.2, 17.2, and 22.2. The overall course cut-off time is 6.5 hours. Hikers and walkers are welcome. Bibs are mailed beginning two weeks before the event; on-site bib pickup and distance changes are available at the start/finish area on race morning. T-shirts are provided to all participants.
