Event overview
The Nakon Turkey Dash is an annual family-friendly 5k run/walk held on Thanksgiving morning at Avon Lake High School, 37545 Detroit Road, Avon, OH 44011. The 2025 event is scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025. Over 1,500 runners, walkers and spectators typically take part to support financial aid for breast cancer survivors in Northeast and Northwest Ohio.
The event has raised more than $500,000 over the past 22 years. Race perks listed include a Turkey Dash race shirt, pumpkin pie and post-run refreshments such as coffee and hot chocolate.
Competition, registration and sponsorship
Awards are given to the top three male and female overall finishers. Medals are given to the top three finishers in each age bracket (9 and under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, … 75-79, 80+).
Registration opens in September 2025. Published fees are: Adult runner early bird $35, after 11/1 $40; Child runner (12 and under) early bird $25, after 11/1 $40. Sponsor opportunities note a cut-off for name on swag of November 1, 2025, with tiered options at $500, $1,000, $2,500 and $5,000 specifying different levels of placement on shirts, banners, mile markers and finish line signs.
