Event details
The New River Trail Races take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026, in Fries, Virginia. The event offers the following distances:
- 100k
- 50K
- 25K
- 10K
Awards are given for overall places (1st–3rd) in Male, Female, and Nonbinary categories and for multiple age-group brackets. The 100k finishers receive a buckle. There are no refunds of entry fees. Entrants may transfer distances up to the day before the race, transfer their entry to another runner for the same year, or request a rollover for medical reasons including pregnancy and post-partum. Parking at the state park requires a fee per day unless a runner has a valid monthly or annual Virginia State Parks pass.
Course and logistics
All courses are 100% dirt, flat, and run along the New River and Chestnut Creek inside New River Trail State Park. Each distance uses an out-and-back course. Aid stations are placed along the courses (mile locations listed for each distance on the race website) and are stocked with electrolyte drink, water, Coke, PB&J, salty snacks, candy, and fruit; hot food is available at select stations. This is a cupless race: runners must carry at least one water bottle or cup because disposable cups are not provided.
50k and 100k runners may leave drop bags at the Start/Finish area on race morning for delivery to the Cliffview turnaround; bags will be returned to the finish area later. Packet pickup is available Friday evening and on race morning. Headlamps or flashlights are required for the 100k; 50k runners are advised to consider carrying one.
