Newark Mile 4k

Event
The Newark Mile 4k is an annual, chip-timed road race and walk held each September as part of the Newark Days celebration. The event is hosted by Newark Days and the CXC4L Alumni Association and is USATF sanctioned. The primary venue is the Newark Community Center at 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA. The course is run along the parade route as a 4k (about 2.5 miles).

Registration and logistics
Registration fees vary by registration date and increase for on-site, day-of registration. Registrations include a finisher medal and a Newark Days T-shirt while supplies last; early registration increases the chance of receiving a preferred T-shirt size. Bib and timing-chip pickup and pre-race packet pickup occur in front of the Newark Community Center.
Parking is limited because of parade and street closures; nearby residential streets are recommended and walking or biking from close neighborhoods is encouraged. Portable restrooms are available near the community center. The kids race is free and is intended for very young children, with a suggestion that one adult wait at the start and one at the finish for younger participants.
Awards and results
All finishers receive a special edition finisher medal. Awards include trophies for first overall male and female, trophies for the first Newark resident male and female, trophies for first in each age group, and medals for the top three in each age group. Age groups are: 0 to 14, 15 to 25, 26 to 35, 36 to 45, 46 to 55, 56 to 65, and 66 & over.
