Event overview
The Newark Mile 4k is a chip-timed road race and walk held as part of the Newark Days celebration. The 41st running is scheduled for Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Newark Community Center, 35501 Cedar Blvd., Newark, CA. The event is hosted by Newark Days in partnership with the CXC4L Alumni Association. The main distance is 4k (2.5 mile) run/walk along the parade route.
Course and logistics
The start and finish are at the intersection of Chapman and Cedar in front of the Newark Community Center. The course follows Cedar Blvd with a U-turn near Lake Blvd, continues onto Newark Blvd with a U-turn near Musick Ave, and returns to Cedar Blvd for the finish. Check-in and packet pickup occur in front of the Newark Community Center, where participants collect bibs, timing chips, and T-shirts. Parking in Newark Days lots will not be available; participants and spectators are advised to use nearby residential streets or travel by foot or bike if local.
Newark Mile 4kids and awards
The Newark Mile 4kids is an approximately 50 meter race held near the check-in area at Cedar Blvd. and Chapman Dr.; it is free and recommends an adult at the start and an adult at the finish for younger children. All runners receive a special edition finisher medal. Awards include trophies for first overall male and female, trophies for first Newark resident male and female, trophies for first in each age group, and medals for the top three in each age group. Age groups are 0-14, 15-25, 26-35, 36-45, 46-55, 56-65, and 66 & over. Results are posted on RunSignUp and CXC Results, and an awards ceremony is held after the race.
