Event overview
The Lake Travis New Year’s Trail Challenge takes place January 1-2, 2026 at Shaffer Bend Park, Marble Falls, TX (706 County Road 343A). The event offers multiple trail distances and ruck divisions on looped courses along the Colorado River and limestone bluffs.

Courses and rules
The main courses are looped trail routes with natural terrain, wooded sections, river views, and limestone bluff features. Per loop metrics: 7.183 miles, elevation min/max 640' / 734', and about 512' gain / 531' loss per loop. The 100K and 50K use a looped design and list overall distances of 62.2 and 31.1 miles. The 25K is shown as 15.5 miles.
Cutoff and event rules: the 100K and 50K list a 24-hour cutoff; the 25K and ruck/half routes list a 12-hour cutoff. Ruck divisions (13.1M and 25K, plus 5K/10K ruck options) require minimum carried weight of 20 lbs for participants under 150 lb and 30 lbs for participants over 150 lb, with weights checked at start and finish.
