NYCRUNS Haunted Island 5K takes place on Sunday, October 26, 2025, on Governors Island at Colonels Row in New York, NY. The event distance is 5K and the course is one full loop around the island. Entry includes race entry, a ferry ride for the runner and guests, a tech shirt, and post-race refreshments.
Course, festival and logistics
The course is USATF-certified. The Festival Area, a short walk from the ferry terminal, serves as bib and shirt pickup, bag check, and the post-race refreshment area. Bag check requires a single clear bag (18" x 24") and organizers reserve the right to search contents. Portable bathrooms will be available. Water and electrolyte fluids will be provided on course and at the finish. Post-race food includes fresh fruit and a bagel with schmear. Runners receive one complimentary race photo; additional photos are available for purchase.
Entry, awards and policies
Start corrals are pace-based and assigned by letter (AA-F); the corral assignment appears on the bib and is based on the pace entered in the NYCRUNS dashboard. Bibs are available for pick up on race morning with a unique QR code; NYCRUNS members may opt to have bibs mailed if registration occurs at least 20 days before the event and the address is within the U.S. Results will be emailed and posted online. Awards are given to the top three male, female and non-binary overall (gun time) and to the top three in each age group (net/chip time). Strollers and dogs are not allowed. The standard no-refunds, no-transfers policy applies; NYCRUNS members have withdrawal options for race credit. Handcycle and wheelchair athletes are not advised for this course.
