Event details

The OSS/CIA 50 Mile Night Run takes place at Telegraph Road Pavilion in Triangle, VA, within Prince William Forest Park. Distances offered:

  • 50 Miler
  • 25M

The park was used to train the Office of Strategic Services, the predecessor to the Central Intelligence Agency, and some cabins and place names reflect that history.

Course, aid and support

The main course is a 25+ mile loop run twice to produce a 50+ mile event. The route is primarily single-track with some fire road sections and several bridge and National Park Service road crossings. A night marathon option was added in 2023; athletes have 8 hours and 35 minutes to complete the one-loop night marathon and all 50 mile cutoffs apply to that event.

Aid support includes two fully stocked main aid stations at the start/finish (Telegraph Road Pavilion) and at the half-way point (Oak Ridge Camp Ground). Two smaller "mini-aid" stations provide limited food, water, and Tailwind where South Valley Trail and Burma Road each intersect Scenic Drive. Crews are permitted only at Telegraph Road Pavilion and must be in the park and at the pavilion before night fall. Pacers are allowed beginning on the second loop from Telegraph Road Pavilion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
