Event overview
The Pistol Ultra is an annual multi-distance running event held in Alcoa, Tennessee, each March. The event is based at Springbrook Pool Center (636 Vose Rd, Alcoa, TN) and uses a paved greenway trail that follows Pistol Creek. Races use loop formats that start and finish at the Springbrook Pool Center. The course is USATF certified and has night lighting for after-dark running. Aid stations are heated and fully stocked, and support areas include indoor heated restrooms.

The 50K and 100K share a USATF-certified loop of 10.35 miles per lap (three laps for 50K, six for 100K). The 50 Mile and 100 Mile use a USATF-certified 10-mile loop (five laps for 50M, ten for 100M). Time limits stated by the organizer include up to 32 hours for the 50K, 100K, and 100 Mile events, 20 hours for the nighttime 50 Mile, and 8 hours for the 10 Mile and 20 Mile races. The event offers a combined 50K/50 Mile "Double Barrel" challenge that requires starting and finishing both distances to qualify. Some ultra-distance entrants receive a food truck meal ticket.
