Courses and key details
- Olympic: 1.5 km swim, about 23 mile bike, 10 km run
- Sprint: 750 m swim, about 12 mile bike, 5 km run
Swim courses start in the water on the south side of the transition area and finish on the north side. The Olympic swim is a triangular loop with sighting buoys about every 75 m; the sprint is a rectangular loop with buoys every 50-75 m. The swim uses a time trial start (one athlete at a time). This section of Lake Anna is typically 4-6 degrees warmer than other parts of the lake and is expected to be in the mid to upper 70s in mid-October. Bike courses use low-traffic paved roads with rolling terrain; the Olympic is two loops, the sprint is a single loop. The marina entrance road is closed to general traffic during the cycling portion and overflow parking is located about 1/4 mile from the venue.
