Event overview
Popple Shoot Trail Races take place in Minong, Wisconsin, with start and finish at Wild River Campground, 802 Railroad St. The event on May 9, 2026 is organized by Big Slo Running and offers four distances:
- 87K
- 62K
- 25K
- 10K
Online registration opens November 28, 2025 and closes on May 5, 2026. Entry fees vary by registration period; ranges are: 10K $30–$40, 25K $50–$70, 62K $60–$85, 87K $75–$100. Packet pick up is available Friday evening and on race morning.
Courses, aid and services
All courses use a mix of surfaces: the Wild Rivers Trail (old railroad bed, crushed gravel), single-lane ATV trails, and county roads (paved and dirt). Surface mileage summaries by distance are provided by the organizer. The 87K and 62K have a 15-hour finish cutoff; the 87K also has a checkpoint cutoff at mile 42.3. Aid stations:
- 87K: 8 fully stocked, 1 water-only
- 62K: 6 fully stocked, 1 water-only
- 25K: 1 fully stocked, 2 water-only
- 10K: 1 water-only
Aid stations will offer drinks and food items such as sandwiches, fruit, cookies and electrolyte drink. Awards are given to top male and female finishers in overall and age categories. Lodging options include the Wild River Trail Inn, nearby motels, and local campgrounds. Emergency medical facilities are available within 30 to 60 minutes of the race location.
