The event supports the Alameda County Community Food Bank. Participants are encouraged to bring at least one canned good on race morning; cash donations can be made during registration and donation bins will be available on race day. Youth pricing categories are offered for the road races. The Double Turkey Challenge connects this event with a separate Thanksgiving Day race; completing both events, in person or remotely, makes a participant eligible for a connector medal that links the two race medals.
