Event overview
Nevada’s Recovery and Prevention (NRAP) presents the 2025 R5k Run/Walk and Recovery Celebration on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the Snowflake Pavilion in Idlewild Park, Reno (1450 Idlewild Dr). The event coincides with National Recovery Month and aims to promote community health and wellness, celebrate individuals in recovery, and reduce stigma associated with addiction. A recovery celebration follows the run/walk and is free and open to the public regardless of participation in the 5k. The celebration will include food, family activities, live music, guest speakers and advocates in recovery, vendors, and community organizations providing information on local services.
Race format, course and registration

The 5k starts and finishes near the Snowflake Pavilion and follows the Crooked Mile path west along the north side of the Truckee River to Ivan Sack Park, where participants return along the same route. A water station, sponsored by Reno Running Company, is located at the turnaround in Ivan Sack Park. Registration categories include Adults (age 18 and above) and Youth (ages 6-17); children under six participate free but will not receive an official race t-shirt or timing. Fee tiers are listed as early, regular and day-of pricing; registering by September 8 guarantees an official race t-shirt. Sponsors support student recovery programs, and a $35 tax-deductible donation can sponsor a runner in recovery. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
