Reston Triathlon
The Reston Triathlon, held annually in Reston, Virginia, is a celebrated Olympic-distance event traditionally featuring a 1500-meter open water swim in Lake Audubon, a 25-mile bike ride, and a 10K run on local paths. Since 1984, it has attracted athletes nationwide and is affectionately known as the Reston Triathlon World Championship. Due to harmful blue-green algae in Lake Audubon, the 2025 race has transitioned to a duathlon format, replacing the swim with a 4K run and slightly extending the bike course to 41 kilometers.
The event includes individual and relay categories, with awards across various age groups, and is organized by the CORE Foundation to continue this community tradition. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
