Event overview

The Rim to River 100 is a 100-mile out-and-back ultramarathon through the New River Gorge in West Virginia. The race begins and ends at ACE Adventure Resort and is described as the first and only 100-mile trail race in West Virginia. The official 2025 event is scheduled over October 24-26, 2025. Participants have 32 hours to complete the course. Finishers within the allotted time receive a custom belt buckle and a locally hand-made finisher mug; runners finishing under 24 hours receive a special sub-24 belt buckle.

Course, support, and rules

The course totals 100 miles made up of approximately 84 miles trail, 6 miles dirt road, and 10 miles paved. Total ascent and descent are each listed as 12,000 ft, with elevations ranging from 823 ft to 2,015 ft. The route travels repeatedly from the rim of the gorge to riverbanks and passes waterfalls, historic mining ruins, ghost towns, and cemeteries. Crew access and drop bag service are limited to specific aid stations including Concho Rim (mile 7/93), Bike Farm (mile 38.5/64.5), Hawks Nest (mile 53), Cunard (mile 80.5), and Fayette Station (mile 43.5/59). Pacers may join at Hawks Nest and must follow registration, age, and conduct requirements. The race is cup-free; all participants must carry personal hydration and a night headlamp.
