Route 66 5K Foot Race is held at Old State Capitol Plaza in Springfield, Illinois. The event features a 5K, a 1 Mile Fun Run, a Virtual 5K, and a Volunteer option. The 5K course is three loops around the Route 66 Mother Road Festival area, offering an iconic atmosphere with classic cars and festival energy.

The route is clearly marked with cones and is chip-timed for precise results. All finishers receive medals, with additional awards for overall and age-group places.
