Event overview
The Run for the Wounded on May 3, 2026 is a multi-distance race at Prince William Forest Park in Triangle, Virginia. Distances offered:
- 5k
- 10k
- Half-marathon
The event benefits Leashes of Valor, a nonprofit that provides service dogs at no cost to wounded and disabled veterans. Points from the event count toward the Year-Long 5k, 10k, Endurance, and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Spring Series. A virtual race option is available. Registered participants receive a finisher’s coin, a technical (Drifit) event shirt, and chip timing.
Course, logistics and awards
Course notes: the 5k is a trail run, the 10k is about 50% trail and 50% pavement, and the half-marathon is about 60% pavement. The route includes hills. Water stations: eight along the half, three along the 10k, and one on the 5k; Gatorade will be available at some stations. Restrooms are near the park Visitor Center. Parking is at the Williams Ballfield off the main park road using GPS pin 38.559346, -77.348438.
Registration: there is no on-site registration; registration closes the night before the event. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before April 22. Early registration fees (until April 15) are: 5k $35, 10k $50, half $70; fees increase after that date and by $5 on race morning. Packet pickup is available at the event; organizers recommend arriving about one hour before a runner’s event to check in.
Awards: top three men and women overall, plus 1st and 2nd place male and female in standard age categories from 19 & under through 70+. Overall top-three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards. Live results will be posted after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
