Course and logistics
Races are held on the Arkansas Hills Trail System and on BLM, Forest Service, Chaffee County, and City of Salida land and roads. Course surfaces include dirt/jeep roads and narrow, hilly single track. Elevation on the courses ranges from 7,000 to 9,000 feet. Foot travel only; crews and pacers are not allowed. Time limits are 7.5 hours for the marathon and 5 hours for the half marathon. A light hot meal is available at the finish. The Salida Scout Hut (210 East Sackett Avenue) is the race-day packet pickup location, restroom area, and race finish site. The race start is a short walk across the F Street bridge and railroad tracks from the Scout Hut. A free kids’ 400 meter run takes place in Riverside Park. Donations from race proceeds support local trail and search-and-rescue organizations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
